Zeus!
What's a Greek Myth without Zeus right?
And why is he swimming in gray cotton candy?
If you know the story of Phaethon... Then you know what's coming to him. If you don't know, then pick up a book and read! And if you want to see more of these pages from this re-telling... Then talk to your kid's school principal and ask them to buy imagine learning's product for their school! That's the only way you'll find out what happens in our telling of Phaethon's Ride. :)
Have a wonderful day!

Another homerun...how long does it take to create a image like this?

Wow Nate thats really awesome! I love the colour you chose for the lightning... seems to work for some reason. A nice departure from the usual blue or yellow lightning.
Because this one is just one figure on a simple background? It only took a day of work, 'bout 7-8 hours.
From rough to nothing sketch to final. That's takin' it easy too, with potty breaks, a doughnut run, and the occasional chats with fellow office buddies.
Sorry, not to add comments, but in answer to your comment about the lightning Andrew... I chose purple because I've always viewed purple as a mysterious color, sometimes associated with love, sometimes with death, and well, in this instance Zeus knows he's putting an end to Phaethon, out of mercy for the Earth and for Phaethon. It's a mixed bag there in that one bolt of lightning, so I thought purple or violet would be kinda cool. The background colors were picked after I made that decision on the lightning, to make it stand out. :)
Ahhh I see, cool insight there Nate.
I just want to know if this is Nathan Baertsch who served in Compiegne with me. Yes? -Brian Blumer
